Saddle Ridge house fire extinguished by crews early on Saturday

All occupants of the home, including a dog, managed to escape to safetyCalgary fire crews battled an early-morning blaze in northeast Calgary on Saturday. Calls came in at approximately 5:20 a.m. of a fire in the 100-block of Saddle Ridge Crescent. When firefighers arrived they set up a water tower to tackle the flames and protect neighbouring homes. Firefighters then moved into the house to put out the fire from the inside and conduct searches. The two occupants of the house and a dog managed to escape safely. Two other homes were evacuated but the residents were able to re-enter their homes shortly after the fire was extinguished. The house that caught fire suffered "extensive structural damage," according to the fire department. |
