It's that time of year again, so prepare to be groggy
It's that time of year again. Hopefully you can keep your tired eyes open long enough to enjoy the sunshine. (Elena Elisseeva/Shutterstock)
Which would you prefer: more sunshine or more sleep?
It's that time of year when we steal from Peter to pay Paul, with an extra hour of sunlight coming at the expense of that much-needed extra hour of sleep.
The change takes place at 2 a.m. on Sunday.
Those with smartphones won't have to do anything but wake up feeling uneasy, confused and sleep deprived. House clocks, however, will trip up the tech-savvy unless prompt action is taken.
Dr. Charles Samuels, the medical director for the Centre for Sleep and Human Performance, says the best way to ensure a better rest is to leave plenty of time to wind down and destress before hitting the sack.
He also suggests not sleeping next to your phone, or even better, turning it off.
But if you still wake up tired, fortunately there's a favourite punching bag towards which people can direct their anger (or appreciation) for the change in routine: big business.
At least we've got that going for us.
