Mounties were called to a home on Township Road 500 at about 3:20 a.m. by a homeowner reporting two people were on the property stealing a yard tractor.

The pair of suspects were driving a truck stolen earlier in the morning from a residence in Leduc, police said.

One suspect rode the yard tractor to a neighbouring rural property, broke into the residence and assaulted the homeowner before fleeing.

The homeowner suffered minor injuries and no property was taken from the second residence.

With the help of the RCMP’s dog unit, the man was located and arrested. He was in police custody Friday. Criminal charges were pending.

Mounties are trying to identify and locate the second suspect. Anyone with information should call the Leduc RCMP at 780-980-7200.

This is the second home invasion in Leduc County this week.

On Wednesday, an elderly man was assaulted at a rural residence south of Edmonton.

Leduc RCMP said three people entered a rural house Tuesday near Range Road 241 and Township Road 495 and confronted the elderly man.

He managed to escape, but the suspects are alleged to have stolen three firearms and various personal items during the raid.
