CLARE CLANCY / POSTMEDIA A woman shot dead in a vehicle in rural north Edmonton — now the eighth homicide of the year — faced multiple RCMP warrants in 2016 for fraud. Cynthia Deborah Kennedy, 39, of Edmonton was found slain in the vehicle parked near 258 Avenue and Meridian Street on Monday. An autopsy completed Wednesday confirmed that she died from gunshot wounds. Kennedy was charged with one count of fraud under $5,000 last February after Strathcona County RCMP received a complaint regarding a property at Range Road 224 and Township Road 523 east of Sherwood Park. She had warrants out of St. Alberta and Red Deer for similar offences. At the time, Strathcona County RCMP urged people looking for rental properties to be cautious about online payments and encouraged them to ask for copies of lease agreements when going through area buy and sells as well as Kijiji. |
