Police say the incident happened at around 11:15 p.m. near 121st Street and 103rd Avenue, west of downtown. The woman was driving a Jeep westbound on 103rd Avenue towards 121st Street when she drove through a four-way stop and struck a Honda Civic, which was heading southbound on 121st Street. The Jeep then collided with two trees and came to a stop about 30 metres from the intersection. The woman driving the Jeep was seriously injured and died at the scene. The man driving the Honda sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution. An investigation into the cause of the collision is underway, but speed is believed to have been a factor.
