Omar Abdi Ahmed, who also goes by the name Jojo, was arrested twice in December following two separate assault complaints in December.

On Dec. 7, officers in west division responded to a report that an 18-year-old woman had been sexually assaulted in the area of 154 Street and 111 Avenue. After further investigation, police allege that the woman was assaulted and trafficked by Ahmed over several days. He faces six charges in connection to that incident, including human trafficking, procuring, receiving financial or material benefit for sexual services, advertising sexual services, sexual assault and unlawful confinement. 

On Dec. 8, southwest division officers responded to a report of an assault on a 20-year-old woman in the area of 38 Avenue and Gateway Boulevard. That woman was also allegedly trafficked by Ahmed, who faces 12 additional charges including human trafficking, receiving financial or material benefit for sexual services, advertising sexual services, withholding traffic documents, forcible confinement, uttering threats, choking with intent to overcome, assault, mischief and breaching recognizance. 

In a news release, EPS said investigators believe Ahmed may have trafficked other women in Saskatchewan and Alberta, and that it’s possible Ahmed approaches women through social media.
