Man dead after pedestrian hit by vehicle near Sherwood Park Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck, and later died in hospital, while walking along Highway 21 near Sherwood Park. Strathcona County RCMP were called to the scene of the collision at Highway 21 and Township Road 542 at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night. Police said the 26-year-old male pedestrian was walking in the southbound lane of the highway when he was struck by a southbound Hyundai Accent. The man suffered critical life-threatening injuries as a result, and police said he was treated at a nearby hospital, where he later died. Police rerouted traffic along the highway for several hours. The area has since been cleared and the highway reopened. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Strathcona County RCMP. |
